Meet Poppy's Mom
Hi, my name is Kayla Cotter, I am the founder of Poppy's Playhouse & Poppy's Mom! My journey working with children started in 2014 in the role of an Assistant Pre-Kindergarten teacher in a group care setting. Soon after I obtained my Childhood Development Degree I became the Lead Teacher in the Pre-Kindergarten Program. My passion for teaching young children & watching them learn through natural curiosity grew over the multiple years in my Pre-K classrooms. It was through this experience that I had found my calling to help nurture growth & development in little learners.

As life’s turns would have it, I made the decision to step out of the classroom & became a nanny to a local family with three young children. It was in this new role that I became an everyday teacher and caregiver. We explored, laughed (sometimes cried), & taught each other incredible life lessons along the way. During the COVID years of homeschooling, my role as that everyday teacher was magnified & we transformed a room in the home to become a homeschool classroom. We conducted morning meetings, engaged in academic lessons, & played our little hearts out. While the world maintained distance we grew closer in our little homeschool classroom!

Fast forward to April 27, 2022 where we were blessed with the presence of our sweet Poppy! Our world changed forever when Poppy arrived in all the best ways possible. With her arrival, I knew I wanted to be home with her & give her the learning experiences I had given to countless kiddos in my former classrooms and to the kiddos of the family I’ve nannied over the years. It’s bittersweet to say “goodbye” to the family I’ve become a part of; but it’s super sweet to embark on a new journey with my sweet Poppy along for the ride. What’s better than to give Poppy a playdate with her mama & friends everyday?
